Who are Seeds of Change Leaders?

Seeds of Change Leaders are Stanford University undergraduate students who are pursuing STEM educations and careers, and who are committed to supporting the advancement of girls and young women in STEM and beyond. In addition to advancing their own leadership, Leaders work in pairs to mentor and guide groups of high school students through an innovative and interactive leadership development curriculum over the course of the academic year.

Why be a Seeds of Change Leader?

Seeds of Change works at the intersection of leadership, gender equality and STEM to both diagnose barriers to advancement and develop strategies for moving beyond these barriers. Leaders will have the opportunity to:

  • Participate in the Seeds of Change Leader Training Program (FEMGEN99): a sociologically-informed leadership development training course that provides a foundation of awareness, skills and resources that will support them as they navigate critical transitions in school and in their careers
  • Support the leadership development of youth through serving as a program facilitator for a group of high school students
  • Be part of a peer network and community of change agents at Stanford and beyond
  • Contribute to the Lab’s research about barriers to leadership and advancement for young women and girls in STEM
