Marbella Eboni Hill

Marbella Eboni Hill is a postdoctoral research fellow in the VMware Women's Leadership Innovation Lab at Stanford University. She received her PhD from Rice University in 2021.
Her research examines experiences of social mobility across the intersections of race/ethnicity, class of origin, and gender identity. Her qualitative work reveals how socioeconomic privilege can mask experiences of inequality among race and gender minorities, particularly in predominately white and male institutions. Her solo-authored work has appeared in the Gender Issues journal.
In her current book project, Marriageable But Never-Married: Race, Class, Gender and Marriage Culture Among Newly Middle- Class Black Americans, she analyzes the relationship between upward class mobility and the intergenerational transmission of ethnic culture in the construction of gender among newly middle-class Black women and men.
