Jennifer Jiwon Lee

Jennifer Jiwon Lee’s research examines how cultural beliefs about gender continue to undermine women’s legitimacy, authority, and power. One strand of her work uses ethnography to show how men college students continue to dominate classroom sonic space, reinforcing traditional gender hierarchies. Another strand uses content analysis to compare how men and women social scientists are constructed in public media. Prior to joining the VMware Women’s Leadership Lab, she earned her B.A. from Dartmouth College and her Ph.D. from Indiana University - Bloomington.
