What is the Seeds of Change Educator Training Program?

Seeds of Change is a leadership development initiative from the Stanford VMware Women’s Leadership Innovation Lab that supports the advancement of girls and women through an integrated curriculum of mentoring, training, and skills development. The Seeds of Change curriculum is grounded in research about predictors of persistence and advancement and how gender inequality manifests in leadership development and opportunities. The program's goal is to encourage age- and stage-appropriate awareness, skills, and resources that will support girls and young women as they navigate critical transitions in school and in their careers.

The Seeds of Change Educator Training Program partners with educators from schools and organizations who are interested in advancing the leadership of the girls with whom they work. Through a Summer Kick-off and multiple scheduled touch points throughout the school year, these Educator Partners are trained in how to lead the Seeds of Change curriculum as well as provided with an opportunity to reflect on their own leadership and foster equity.

What qualifications are needed be an Education Partner?

  • An Educator Partner must be an educator – teacher, coach, non-profit professional, mentor, etc. – committed to advancing girls leadership.
  • An Educator Partner must work with high school-aged students.

What is the time commitment?

Educators Partners commit to approximately 50 hours of engagement over the course of the program, which includes:

  • Completing the in-person Summer 2022 Kick-ff at Stanford from June 16-18, 2022
  • Attending four Touch Point Meetings during the 2022-23 academic year
  • Implementing and evaluating the Seeds of Change curriculum

What does it cost to participate?

There are no costs to the Educator Partners. For their partnership, Educator Partners will receive an honorarium of $1500.00.
